It is known as alexa ranking which is the most popular ranking system. Though Alexa doesn’t provide ranking accurately. Anyway, I’ll write an article on this topic later. make alexa widget to support SSL

Many webmasters think that alexa widget helps to improve alexa rank. Some of the webmasters think alexa widget never helps. I’m also not sure about it. Anyway, Alexa Widget has a limitation. It can’t be placed in SSL (https://) websites. So the webmasters who have ssl site, they can’t use alexa widget trick. But no more frustration. In this article, You will know the way to use alexa widget in SSL site.

How to Use Alexa Widget with SSL Support:

Using alexa widget in website is so easy. You just need place a simple code to your website’s widget area or header. It can be placed in two different ways. One is ‘It will show alexa rank of your website’, Another one is ‘It won’t display any thing’. I think maximum peoples choose second way. Look at the code below –

<a href="http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/yoursite.com"><script type="text/javascript" src="http://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/t/a?url=yoursite.com"></script></a>

You just need to replace yoursite.com with your website address. It will show your ranking on your website. If you don’t want to show it use the code below –

<div style="display:none;">
 <a href="http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/xtremerain.com"><script type="text/javascript" src="http://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/s/a?url=xtremerain.com"></script></a>
 </div>

Just replace xtremerain.com with your website address.

Alexa Widget for SSL site:

But when you want to use the code in a https website, You will be upset. Because the following site address on the code http://xslt.alexa.com is not ssl supported site. I don’t know why alexa is not making it https. But there is a way to make it https. Use https://code.checkandmate.net/ajax/ssl?u=https://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/t/a?url=xtremerain.com instead of http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/xtremerain.com on the code. That means just add additional https://code.checkandmate.net/ajax/ssl?u= before the script link on the code. After using it the code will be like –

<div style="display:none;">
 <a href="https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/xtremerain.com"><script type="text/javascript" src="https://code.checkandmate.net/ajax/ssl?u=http://xslt.alexa.com/site_stats/js/s/a?url=xtremerain.com"></script></a>
 </div>

Just replace xtremerain.com with your web address. Use this code on your website’s widget area. You also can use it on your header. Then see this code will make alexa widget work with your ssl supported site.

By this way, You can easily use alexa widget with ssl support.

Update: mindfreakers.net is now checkandmate.net. So, I updated the link https://code.mindfreakers.net/ajax/ssl?u= to https://code.checkandmate.net/ajax/ssl?u=”. Thanks Sagar Gulati for informing me 🙂

“Alexa widgets have been retired”

These are no more working as this widget support has been ended.
