CAPTCHAS, Smarter Than a HumanSeptember 12, 2019
CAPTCHAS are becoming more and more difficult as machine learning and AI take over.
Challenging Tests For Humans
In order to distinguish between humans and robots, challenging tests (distorted texts and puzzles) have been incorporated into allowing access to passwords or websites. Can robots solve puzzles or identify hidden images? Are they capable of breaking into accounts? Most humans are unable to solve these puzzles.
Artificial Intelligence: Human vs. Robot
Artificial Intelligence has come a long way and sometimes the future looks scary with them in it. The Completely Automated Public Turing test has been developed to detect the difference between a human and robot. If this test can determine between a human and a robot, then we are still using AI to determine who is human or not. The test is programmed to decipher between a robot or human.
Are You a Robot?
Machine learning has become so sophisticated that an algorithm can let you in or keep you out. A simple question-“are you a robot?”- is now being asked because today’s Artificial Intelligence technology can solve even the most difficult variant of distorted text at 99.8% accuracy. Thus distorted text, on its own, is no longer a dependable test.
Is Artificial Intelligence Smarter?
This shows that the act of typing in the answer to a distorted image should not be the only factor when it comes to determining a human versus a machine. So far, a robot cannot answer the following question: Are you a robot? However, Google Assistant (who is artificially intelligent) will say she is your friend and artificially intelligent. Perhaps it is possible for AI to say, “I’m not a robot.”
