In fact, Both catroot and catroot2 folders are similar to software distribution folder. - First of all, Open command prompt as administrator. If you don’t know how to do it, Simply open start menu. Then, Type cmd. After that, Right click on command prompt and choose run as administrator.
- Then, Run the following commands.
net stop cryptsvc
xcopy %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.bak /s
- After executing these three commands, manually delete everything from catroot2 folder. You will find this folder in C:\Windows\System32\
- Then, Run this command.
net start cryptsvc
- Now, Check for latest windows update.
