How to Reset Microsoft Edge Web Browser

    To improve browser performance, You may need to reset or refresh it. You all know how to do it. Like other web browsers you can’t reset Microsoft Edge easily. Because, There is no options available in Edge. If you feel it is not performing well, You may feel necessity to refresh this browser. You may think that it is not possible. But, You can reset it by following different but simple method!

    Reset Microsoft Edge Web Browser in PC:

    This process may look complex. But it is very easy and simple. I’ll describe all of these processes in 3 shorter steps so that it seems more easier to you. Anyway, Just follow these procedures to reset edge.

    Step 1: Clearing History, Data, Cookies and Cache of Edge

    First of all you will need to clear everything from this browser. To do it –

    • Open Microsoft Edge.

    • Now go to Settings > Choose what to clear.

    • Then mark – Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data, Cached data and files, Download history etc.
    • Then click or tap on Clear.

    Now, Follow next one.

    Step 2: Delete Microsoft Edge Package Folder

    At this step, You will need to delete the package of this browser. To do it –

    • Press Windows Logo + R from keyboard to open RUN.
    • Type C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages and press Enter.
    • Now find and delete this folder Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe.

    You just have one step behind resetting edge. Now, Follow the final step and finish the process.

    Step 3: Run Windows PowerShell Command to Reset Microsoft Edge

    You have done almost everything. You will just need to run a simple command as administrator in powershell to reset microsoft edge. To do it –

    • Open Start Menu and type powershell.

    • You will see Windows Powershell. Just right click on it and select Run as administrator.
    • Now paste the following command and press Enter.
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}

    Currently, Microsoft Edge no default or builtin option to reset it. So, You have to do it in this way. But, Hopefully, Microsoft may add this feature in the future. Anyway, You may need to restart your PC after completing the process.
